ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, ENGLISH EDUCATION
School of Education, University of Pittsburgh

POSITION: Assistant Professor of English Education. This position is a full-time, tenure-stream position, beginning August 2013.

DESCRIPTION: The Department of Instruction and Learning in the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh seeks candidates to join a collaborative and accomplished faculty as Assistant Professor of English Education. Responsibilities include pursuing a productive research program, including seeking external funding and producing scholarly publications; teaching and advising in our post-baccheloreate teacher education and M.Ed. programs; teaching and advising in our Language, Literacy and Culture doctoral Program; and, collaborating with other faculty across the Department, the School of Education and the University.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have doctoral degrees in English Education, literacy studies or related fields; teaching experience in secondary schools; demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching; and, evidence of potential for scholarly productivity. We are particularly interested in candidates with research on adolescent literacy related to urban education, English Language Learners, teacher education, educational technology, critical literacy and adolescents’ digital and other out-of-school literacy practices.
