The Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership, in Old Dominion University’s Darden College of Education, is inviting applications for the position of Full-time, Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in pre-K-12 Educational Leadership.
Candidates for the position should have demonstrated levels of competence and sufficient experience to conduct fundable research in Pre-K-12 leadership and/or policy. Candidates should also be able to show evidence of, or potential for, effective teaching and advising of Master’s, Education Specialist and Ph.D. students. Candidates should provide evidence of scholarly expertise and teaching effectiveness in areas of relevance to a variety of pre-K-12 practitioners and policymakers. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: school or district leadership, educational reform and improvement or school law.
The selected candidate must have an earned doctoral degree by the time of appointment in Educational Leadership, Educational Policy or a related field.
Preference will be given to a candidate with: (a) pre-K-12 administrative experience at the school and/or district level; (b) a record of scholarship and publication in educational leadership and policy; © a record of securing external funding; (d) a commitment to advancing diversity and social justice in education; and, (e) a willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and public education partners.
The Educational Leadership Services area in EFL offers administrative licensure through its Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees and a Ph.D. in Education, with an emphasis in Pre-K-12 Educational Leadership. The EFL Department is also home to nationally-recognized programs in Higher Education and Community College Leadership. Opportunities for research and service are enhanced by the Department’s close relationships with other units in the College, University and The Center for Educational Partnerships.
