The Education Studies Department of Skidmore College, a selective liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York, invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position, beginning September 2013.

Premised on a constructivist approach to teaching and learning, faculty in the Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State, grades 1-6. In addition, the Department’s on-campus lab school, the Early Childhood Center, provides a resource for teaching and research projects.

Preferred qualifications for this position include a strong commitment to social justice, teaching experience at the college and/or elementary school level, a robust commitment to undergraduate education within a liberal arts context, and the experience or ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. A Ph.D. or Ed. D. degree is desirable, althoughABDs are encouraged to apply.

The teaching load for this position is 5 courses each academic year. Specialties in Child Development/Special Education are preferred.
