NETA’s annual meeting on “Medical and Biological Applications of Engineering and Applied Sciences” will be held on April 18-19, 2015.
Objective: The meeting aims to to identify niche areas of research amongst the scientists and engineers that present research collaboration, student exchange, and grant seeking opportunities. At the conclusion of the program, it is expected that groups will be formed with common interests with future plans to either apply for multi-institute grant programs and/or start research collaboration to generate preliminary data.
Topics: The targeted topic areas include all applications of science and engineering disciplines to medical and biological research fields. These projects are typically developed under biomedical, bioengineering, biotechnology, and bioinformatics programs at institutes of higher education. However, we are cognizant of the fact that many other science and engineering departments and programs at US universities encourage their faculty to pursue applications in biology. This meeting is organized to provide a platform to cultivate collaboration amongst all researchers working in biological applications of science and engineering disciplines. Investigators working on pure biological applications are encouraged to attend if they are interested in collaborating with those mostly targeting medical and biological applications.
Targeted Audience: Faculty and post-docs at US and Turkish Universities. PhD students nearing graduation are encouraged to attend. A limited number of free accommodations will be available with preference given to PhD students and post-docs. Program Synopsis: The program will include round table discussions, poster viewing sessions, and social hours. Individual oral presentations are deliberately excluded to maximize the time for interaction. There will be a social program on Sunday for those who stay overnight. Families and children are discouraged to accompany the participant member, again with the intention to keep the research focus.
